Yes, it has an app and here you are deciding if you should bother with it. People tend to use Tinder these days, right? So people on OKC tend to have put more effort into their profiles and seem to be more serious about meeting someone. If you are actually interested in reading skimming, at least a profile before swiping right, this could be the place for you. There are some limitations to the app but if you login on the web you can access a few more features.
All of the dating apps have some UI quirks. OKC seems to function pretty well overall. Their most recent change was removing the ability to see visitors, a change NO ONE wanted and that has been universally unpopular and agreed upon that it has finally completely ruined the site.
What was once a great and fun site is now a featureless ghost town. Same with the reviews here. Developer Response Dec 15, Our tests showed removing visitors boosted messaging, and we hope everyone will benefit. Downhill Dec 22, Heads over Fails I've been on OkCupid since and throughout that time I have made a lot of great connections been on many dates made some friends and generally have a good experience.
I'm appreciative of that but it's not fair to continue pretending that this site is the same thing that it once was. Gradual changes over time we are well and good but as of late changes to the layout such as removing visitors, and recently, using your real name have made a real impact on my experience. OK Cupid used to be a fun place with some degree of anonymity and the ability to engage with people.
But in an attempt to monetize and homogenize itself like many other dating sites it is lost some degree of what made it special and unique. This might be a find business model and they might think that it's fine to address criticisms on their app reviews with some kind of bored and Pat generic platitudes about how it's optimizing it's dating experience but it boils down to the fact that like the GOP this site is not for the people but with the advertisers that they wish to curry favor with.
Developer Response Dec 27, Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you dislike these changes. We have been implementing a lot of change over the past months that we hope, in the long run, will benefit everyone.
We are reevaluating these features based on feedback. Keep checking out the blog for the most recent update:
